Camping at Dillon Lake

We wanted to take the boys camping one more time before our big move out East. The plan was to camp at Dillon Lake in Frisco. When we pulled up I was a little disappointed. The lake is really low still so it wasn't very pretty. Not to mention all of the trees that they had to cut down because of the beetle problem a few years ago. But we also didn't want to be in the car any longer so we stayed. I am glad we did. It grew on you. And pretty soon you were seeing past the ugly. The low lake made for fun exploring and good rock finding. All of the trees that were cut down are making way for new ones. We had 360 degree views of all the beautiful snow-capped mountains. Michael loves being outside and wandering around. Ethan, who has only been potty trained for a few weeks, did great going potty outside. Parker loved finding new rocks. We brought home way too many! Once we got the kids to sleep they all slept really well. Dan and I didn't sleep much though. I had to hold Michael (it got colder than we thought). Holding him and trying to stay warm while sleeping on a thin pad made for a very long night! We have a pretty sweet tent that without the rain fly on you can see everything through the top of it. It was at least nice to see the stars at night while I couldn't sleep. I even saw a shooting star!
