Spring Break

For Spring Break we went to Denver to spend some time with the Tandbergs. Parker did much better than anticipated on the flight. (Thank you Disney for making the movie Cars!) We flew out on Dan's birthday so of course we had cake and ice cream that first night together. I would make a joke about all of the candles, but my cake will have 3 more than that.

The next day we when to Aunt Kristin's (Dan's sister) and rode the light rail into downtown Denver. Parker loved riding on the "train".

We walked down the 16th street mall where we met up with Grandma and Grandpa Tandberg. We have decided to make it a tradition to go to this crepe restaurant when we go to Denver so here is a picture of why:

Parker loves buses so of course we had to get on the free 16th street mall bus.

Parker hugging the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory bear.

The next few days were spent relaxing. Dan went skiing with his Dad one day. We played at the neighborhood park.

We played Wii of course. Parker liked to "ski". I had no idea he knew that word, but I shouldn't be surprised.

Thursday night we went to the performing arts center to see this:

It was really good and very entertaining. It was also fun to have a little night on the town without Parker. Thanks Grandma for babysitting!

Saturday we went skiing. We were hoping for a nice spring skiing day, but of course it was really cold, windy and snowing. I was a little nervous since I haven't been too many times and didn't go at all last season, but my first 2 runs brought back my confidence. Good thing, the next 2 runs were awful! Thankfully, my knee is finally feeling better. After lunch we went to a different part of the mountain. On the way up to the top, the lift kept stopping and the wind was crazy! It was freezing. When we finally made it to the top we went straight to the warming hut and so did everyone else. It was like a party. We ended up doing the funky chicken with a lady dressed like a chicken.

Sunday we did the Easter thing: family, baskets, yummy food, chocolate, Easter egg hunts.

We also listened to conference. Parker is very entertaining (and distracting) so it is hard to get a lot out of conference. However, I really enjoyed what I managed to hear. It really hit me how in tune the general authorities are with the world and what we need to hear. We are grateful for their guidance and we look forward to reading the talks as a family.

On Monday we flew back to hot, humid, and green (I am referring to a thin layer of pollen on everything) North Carolina. Unfortunately our flight was during the NCAA Championship game. It was very poor planning on our part, but who thinks to consider sporting events when buying airline tickets?!?! We actually could have watched the last 6 minutes of the game, but the Raleigh airport was not showing the game anywhere. It was pretty pathetic. We heard the last 13 seconds on the radio on the drive home. All I have to say is, go Duke!

LOVED all the pics, Kari!! Thanks for posting and keeping us up to date with your family happenings. Parker is such a handsome little boy, and his outfits... Oh boy, loved his tennis shoes!!! The crepes... mouth-watering, now you left me wanting some crepe :)I can totally see why you have made it a tradition to go there every time you go to Denver.
Well, give that little boy a big and tight hug for me and I hope to see you guys soon, sometime this Summer.
